8. Gulf War Vets
(Text)
Jim Condit Jr.:
We have with us Dr. Rania Masri, contributor to the important book, “Iraq under
Siege.” She is an Arab-American citizen who I first saw on Fox Cable News in
1998. Dr. Masri:
Dr. Rania Masri: The Bush administration wants to
send a quarter of a million of our service men and women to invade and occupy
another country on the basis of mere speculation and rhetoric.
Tens of thousands of Iraqis
will likely be killed by the bombing alone.
And what of the US
soldiers? More than 159,000 Gulf War Veterans are receiving disability payments
due to US activities in the 1991 Gulf War. Thousands suffer from memory loss,
dizziness, blurred vision, speech difficulties, nerve disorders, muscle
weakness, and birth defects in their children.
How many more will return
disabled from this war?
