GAZA - The militant Islamic
group Hamas said it was breaking off talks with Palestinian Prime
Minister Mahmoud Abbas on ending its attacks on Israelis. "The
dialogue has ended," Abdel-Aziz al-Rantissi, a Hamas leader told
Reuters. He said Abbas made unacceptable commitments at a U.S.-led
summit with Israel in Aqaba, Jordan, on
Wednesday.

YANGON - U.N. special envoy
to Myanmar Razali Ismail flew into the capital hopeful he could see
detained pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi during a mission to
persuade the junta to free her. The ruling generals have held the
Nobel laureate at an undisclosed location since last Friday when
clashes broke out between her followers and government supporters as
she toured a provincial town.
